Basically, a Muslim should perform all mandatory acts of worship perfectly. Therefore, one can find some specific acts of worship that Allah likes most and through which he draws near to Him and achieve His Good Pleasure.
The Companions of the beloved Prophet (PBUH) were keen to draw closer to their Lord and therefore, they used to ask Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) concerning the means and ways for accomplishing such aims. This shows what is Islam and what it demands from us?
Among the most beloved deeds or acts of worship are the following:
- Faith in Allah:
The Faith lead human beings to a life of obedience and submission to the Will of their Lord, and the one who lives such life is known as a Muslims. Therefore, we find the Faith is one of the starting and basic points that lead all mankind to a life that is based on submission to their Supreme Creator, and that one cannot be a Muslim without Faith.
- Maintaining good relations with kith and kin:
Allah will deprive His closeness and mercy from anyone who severs relations from his kith and kin and tramples their rights. Sadly enough, we see everywhere that Muslims, by and large, are systematically neglecting their Prophet’s teachings pertaining to their obligations towards close relations.
There is not much merit in maintaining the ties of kinship with those who connect them with you. True merit lies in carrying out your duties of kinship towards those who sever them, and deny your rights to you, so that there is no dearth of regard and respect for good family relation in the Islamic society.
- Enjoining good and forbidding evil:
Enjoining good and forbidding evil is a religious, communal and social obligation. The entire body of the people or society has a duty to fulfill this obligation according to their ability and responsibility. If the entire body of the people or society fails in performing this duty, the entire community will suffer punishment and any amount of supplication shall fail to avert retribution from Allah. A condition of civil war in the society is but a facet of this retribution.
The Prophet said: “The most beloved deeds to Allah is Faith in Allah, then maintaining good relations with kith and kin, then enjoining the good and forbidding the evil.” (Sahih At-Targheeb wat-Tarheeb, Hadith: 2522).
- Showing kindness to parents:
Looking after and taking care of one’s parents is the foremost duty of Muslim children. Such service is given preference over fighting in the Way of Allah. Islam exhorts us to look after our parents and spend on them. Voluntary charities may be given to them at all times and they should be served with money and financially helped even if they are unbelievers. Because it is one of the most beloved deeds to Allah. Here you can find the best relationship between parents and children.
- Offering prayer in its actual time:
Salat (prayer) is such a symbol and fundamental acts of worship, deed of religion and it is connected with the reality of Iman (Faith) to such a depth that a Muslim who abandons it enters the fold of disbelief. So the prayer is deed that makes a distinction between disbelief and Iman, and he who abandons the prayers goes out of the fold of Iman. The prayers must be offered on their proper times because performing them on their actual times is one of the dearest deeds to Allah.
The Prophet (PBUH) was asked: “Which deed is the dearest to Allah?” He replied: “To perform the (daily compulsory) prayers at their (early) stated fixed time.” Then he was asked: “What is the next (in goodness)?” He replied: “To be good and dutiful to your parents.” (Al-Bukhari 527).
- Consistency in doing good deeds:
Doing a devotional act of worship persistently and abidingly is the real worship. Obviously, it is not possible unless it is done with moderation, shunning both laxity and excess.
Moreover, too much devotional worship that exhausts and ultimately destroys one’s health, and results in shunning required worldly pursuits, is contrary to the Sunnah. In fact, it is like the monasticism practiced by Christians, and it is forbidden in Islam.
The Prophet (PBUH) said:
“The most beloved of actions to Allah are those which are done persistently, even if they are little.” (Muslim 783).
- Forgiving and pardoning others:
The act of forgiving and pardoning a wrongdoer from a position of strength is the cause of increase in a man’s honor and prestige. One should restrain his anger, control it and grant pardon to a mistaken person because. Because it is one of the beloved deeds to Allah and He Himself is Ever-Pardoning and Ever-Forgiving.
To summarize, righteousness should not be made complicated. We should consider all above-mentioned most beloved deeds to Allah. All such deeds are sanctified by our beloved Prophet (PBUH) and loved by our Supreme Lord and they are so much easy to be accomplished. Insha Allah.
